Summer Series Round 1 – Orewa Beach

Orewa Beach on the Hibiscus Coast provides a perfect, sheltered beach setting for our 1st round of racing this season.  Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a novice, you’ll just love this race venue.  Come and give racing a try!  We guarantee you’ll be ‘hooked’!!

Format
You’ll be competing in 6-7 laps per race, racing around a short course with a standing beach start.  Continuous racing all day, for both runabouts and pole skis. Bring your own shore crew and holders. Enough fuel for 6 or 7 races, and a fuel towel or an absorbent blanket for refueling on the beach.

Boat Ramps
There are 2 ramps – Orewa Surf Club and the Estuary adjacent to the bridge.  Both have limited parking, but you can park at the Surf Life Club.  No vehicles are permitted to park on the beach.

RULES
All riders MUST read and comply with our Race Rules.

Day Schedule:

• Registration and Scrutineering from 11.30am
• Riders brief at 12.30pm
• Racing starts approx. 1.30pm (tide dependent)

Food and Drink
The Beach House Eatery is at the Surf Club and there are also a few cafes just over the road. Pop along during the day and have a meal and a drink.

Prize Giving
Prize giving will be held at the Orewa Surf Club, after the course has been pulled down and tidied up, after a full day of racing. Enjoy a cold drink and the banter while we celebrate our first-round winners.

Early Bird Fees
Pay online before the event and the fees will be $100. Early Bird entry closes Wednesday 26th 12am (midnight).
Fees after this will be $120

New Riders
New Riders are always welcome! You will be fully supported by our experienced riders from beginning to end. Before competing, new riders should familiarise themselves with the class their ski qualifies for. You’ll find everything you need to know in our race information.
