It’s that time again when Orewa Beach Kindergarten is gearing up for its biggest community fundraiser, The Ducky Derby!

This is a free, fun-filled day for family, friends, and the community. There are games and entertainment, prizes, food, and, of course, the main event: 750 yellow ducks, overseen by the Orewa Surf Club, race down the Orewa Estuary. Great prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the individual Duck race!

The Ducky Derby is at the Western Reserve, Orewa (by the Orewa Skatepark) on Saturday 21st March, 2026 from 10am-1pm, with the duck race at 12pm.

The event always draws a crowd. It is a community favourite seeing hundreds of families attend each year.
